Hyderabad: A three-phase power outage disrupted agricultural operations in Khammam district from 4 pm on Wednesday, leaving farmers unable to irrigate their crops. The interruption stopped borewells and pump sets from operating, causing concern among farmers across the district.
Three-phase power outage affects irrigation
Farmers said they could not supply water to paddy, cotton, chilli and oil palm crops because of the power disruption. Moreover, they expressed concern that prolonged interruptions could affect cultivation during the current season.
Assistant Divisional Engineer (ADE) Venkat said technical reasons caused the disruption in the three-phase electricity supply. Additionally, he said electricity department personnel had started restoration work immediately after the fault occurred.
The official said engineers were making efforts to restore the electricity supply at the earliest. Meanwhile, affected farmers urged the Electricity Department to resolve the technical problem without delay. They also appealed to officials to restore the power outage quickly to prevent further disruption to agricultural activities.
