Hyderabad: The Telangana government announced plans for Mega Growth Corridors connecting major municipalities across the state. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to prepare integrated urban corridor projects linking Warangal, Karimnagar and Khammam.
The government also proposed corridors connecting Mahabubnagar, Bhoothpur and Jadcherla. Another corridor will link Kothagudem, Palvancha and Sujatha Nagar. The Chief Minister said the Warangal-Karimnagar-Khammam corridor would drive Telangana’s future development.
Officials attended a high-level review meeting with the Municipal Administration and Roads and Buildings departments. During the meeting, the Chief Minister ordered the construction of Outer Ring Roads for Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar municipal corporations.
He instructed officials to connect towns through planned radial roads. In addition, departments must align roads closer to major municipalities. Officials also need to prepare infrastructure projects with a 25-year vision.
Mega Growth Corridors to include EV and waste management plans
The Chief Minister asked officials to prepare urban-focused plans for every municipality. He said solid waste management systems, wastewater treatment plants and renewable energy units must form part of urban planning.
Officials must use advanced technology in underground drainage construction. The Chief Minister also ordered departments to promote Electric Vehicles for government operations to reduce expenditure. From now on, departments will hire only EV vehicles for official use.
Meanwhile, officials discussed renewable energy generation across urban areas. They also reviewed plans for smart poles, multi-utility towers and AI-based traffic management systems. In addition, the government directed departments to prepare local infrastructure designs based on population needs in each town and city.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to make treated water mandatory for construction activities. The Sewage and Wastewater Management Board will supply the treated water.
The meeting also reviewed a Temple Corridor connecting Nalgonda and Yadagirigutta. Officials discussed a Tourism Corridor linking Adilabad, Nagoba, Basara and the Kadem Project. Moreover, the Chief Minister directed officials to upgrade the Alampur Jogulamba Temple before the Krishna Pushkarams festival.
The government also reviewed airport infrastructure proposals. The Chief Minister said officials must consider water needs for the proposed Warangal Airport. He added that the Ministry of Defence was establishing the Adilabad Airport. Therefore, officials must improve road connectivity to both airports.
Finally, the Chief Minister instructed departments to merge municipalities within the Singareni Collieries region into a single administrative unit.
