Congress holds Reservation Bus Yatra to mark 50 years of ST reservations

Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee’s Tribal Department organised the Reservation Bus Yatra at Medigadda Thanda in Balanagar village of Jadcherla constituency. The programme marked 50 years of constitutional reservations for Scheduled Tribes (STs).

Mahabubabad MLA Dr Bhukya Murali Naik attended the event as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he said the Congress party laid the foundation for tribal advancement through constitutional reservations.

According to the MLA, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s decision created new opportunities for thousands of tribal families. As a result, tribal youth pursued higher education and built successful careers.

Further, Bhukya Murali Naik said reservations helped tribal youth become doctors, engineers, IAS and IPS officers. They also became teachers, advocates, scientists and government employees.

Moreover, he said tribal leaders now represent people in elected bodies. These bodies range from gram panchayats to Parliament.

Reservation Bus Yatra highlights tribal empowerment

The MLA said the Congress party has consistently protected tribal rights. He added that the party remains committed to safeguarding tribal lands, forests and livelihoods.

Meanwhile, he described reservations as a transformative social measure. According to him, they strengthened dignity, self-confidence and equal opportunities for tribal communities.

He also assured participants that the Congress party would continue working for the welfare and empowerment of Scheduled Tribes.

Besides Bhukya Murali Naik, Mahabubabad MP Porika Balaram Naik attended the programme. Government Whip and Dornakal MLA Dr Ramchandra Naik, Jadcherla MLA Anirudh Reddy, MLC Shankar Naik, TRICOR Chairman Dr Tejavath Bellayya Naik, former MP Ravindra Naik and several other leaders also participated.
