Hyderabad: BJP OBC Morcha National President and MP Dr Laxman criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over his recent remarks at the Nalgonda public meeting. He accused the Congress government of failing to fulfil its election promises.
Dr Laxman said people voted for the Congress after becoming dissatisfied with the previous BRS government. However, he alleged that the ruling party abandoned the assurances it made before the Assembly elections.
He claimed the Congress had promised two lakh government jobs within a year. It also promised unemployment allowance, monthly financial assistance for women, Rs 4,000 pensions, one tola of gold for marriages and scooters for girl students. However, he alleged that the government has failed to implement those commitments.
Further, Dr Laxman alleged that the Congress was resorting to diversionary politics to conceal its failures.
Dr Laxman seeks Assembly debate on Congress promises
The BJP MP challenged the Congress government to convene the Assembly and hold an open debate on its election promises. He said the BJP was ready to participate in such a discussion.
Meanwhile, Dr Laxman praised the BJP-led Union government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the Centre had achieved significant development over the past 12 years.
He also claimed that the Union government ensured welfare schemes reached poor people across the country. According to him, the schemes benefited people without discrimination based on caste or religion. He said that was why voters had repeatedly elected the BJP to power.
Finally, Dr Laxman urged the Congress government to stop what he described as mudslinging politics. He asked it to focus on implementing the guarantees promised to the people of Telangana.
