Hyderabad: Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar extended Eruvaka Pournami greetings to farmers and reaffirmed the Telangana government’s commitment to their welfare. He participated in the Eruvaka Pournami celebrations at Kurella village. He launched agricultural activities for the Kharif season and prayed for abundant rainfall, good harvests and prosperity for farming families across the State.
The minister described Eruvaka Pournami as a symbol of Telangana’s rich agrarian tradition. He said farmers begin agricultural activities on the occasion after offering prayers to Mother Earth and nature for a successful cropping season.
Ponnam Prabhakar said farmers remain the backbone of the country because they produce food for society. He said the State’s prosperity depends on the welfare and happiness of the farming community.
Further, he said the Congress government has given top priority to farmers’ welfare. The government continues to improve irrigation facilities, supply quality seeds and fertilisers and strengthen agricultural infrastructure across Telangana.
Eruvaka Pournami marks beginning of Kharif season
The minister urged farmers to adopt scientific cultivation practices during the Kharif season. He advised them to use only certified quality seeds. He also asked them to follow the guidance of Agriculture Department officials.
Meanwhile, he encouraged farmers to conserve water and promote environmentally sustainable farming methods. He also advised them to consider changing weather conditions while selecting crops.
In addition, Ponnam Prabhakar called on farmers to adopt modern agricultural technologies. He said technology-driven farming would improve productivity and increase agricultural income.
The minister expressed hope that Telangana would receive abundant rainfall during the season. He wished for healthy crops that remain free from pests and diseases. He also wished farmers better financial returns.
Finally, Ponnam Prabhakar assured farmers that the Telangana government would continue to support them. He said the government would implement programmes to strengthen agriculture and improve farmers’ livelihoods.
