Islamic scholar Maulana Syed Salman Nadwi passes away

Hyderabad: Maulana Syed Salman Nadwi, a prominent Islamic scholar, author and thinker, passed away in Lucknow. His death prompted an outpouring of grief from scholars, students and members of the Muslim community in India and abroad.

Religious scholars, educational institutions and alumni of Nadwatul Ulama expressed condolences. They remembered him for his scholarship, intellectual leadership and lifelong service to Islamic education.

According to available information, family members will offer the funeral prayer after the Asr prayer today at Jamia Syed Ahmad Shaheed in Katoli. They will conduct the burial immediately afterwards. A large number of scholars, students, followers and admirers are expected to attend.

He earned recognition as one of the leading Islamic scholars of his generation. He built a reputation as a distinguished thinker, prolific author, commentator on the Holy Qur’an and influential public speaker.
