Kavitha questions voter roll revision, seeks EC clarification

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha questioned the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. She demanded that the Election Commission explain the deletion of voters in Bodhan Assembly constituency.

Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Monday, **the Telangana Jagruthi president** said the Election Commission had conducted the Special Intensive Revision exercise eight times across the country. She alleged that officials deleted around 7,000 votes from the Bodhan constituency within a year.

Further, she demanded an explanation from the Election Commission. She also referred to actor Prakash Raj and claimed it took seven years to remove his duplicate voter registration from two locations.

Kavitha raises concerns over duplicate voter entries

The BRS leader alleged that Telangana has a large number of duplicate voter registrations. She claimed officials removed only 800 votes from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s Kodangal constituency.

Meanwhile, Kavitha said her party verified the electoral rolls in Kodangal. She claimed the exercise identified nearly 33,000 duplicate votes.

According to her, the Chief Minister won the previous election by around 32,000 votes. She alleged that the duplicate entries had raised doubts about the election outcome.

Further, she questioned whether votes shifted from Karnataka along with the alleged transfer of money during the elections. She urged the Election Commission to examine the matter.

The BRS MLC also called on the Election Commission to verify voter data across states during the nationwide SIR exercise. She claimed some Hyderabad voters also have registrations in Andhra Pradesh. She said every voter should have only one valid registration.

Finally, she demanded the removal of interstate duplicate voter entries. She said her party would submit a formal complaint to the Election Commission.
