Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy responded positively to a request to officially observe Panduga Sayanna Jayanti on October 22, Minister Vakiti Srihari said.
Mudiraj community leaders met Revanth Reddy at the Secretariat under Srihari’s leadership and submitted a representation seeking government recognition for the birth anniversary of Panduga Sayanna.
The delegation urged the government to organise the Jayanti officially and conduct programmes highlighting Sayanna’s services and fighting spirit for future generations.
The community leaders also sought the transfer of the Mudiraj community from the existing BC-D category to BC-A. They brought the community’s problems and reservation-related concerns to the Chief Minister’s attention.
According to Minister Vakiti Srihari, Revanth Reddy responded positively to the requests. The Chief Minister assured the delegation that the government would favourably examine both the official celebration of Panduga Sayanna Jayanti and the demand for shifting the Mudiraj community to BC-A.
Panduga Sayanna Jayanti proposal linked to community recognition
The Mudiraj leaders sought official State-level recognition for the October 22 Jayanti. They also asked the government to use the occasion to inform future generations about Panduga Sayanna’s contribution and fighting spirit.
The delegation raised broader concerns affecting the Mudiraj community as well. In particular, the leaders sought consideration of their demand for a change in the BC reservation category.
Srihari said the government remained committed to the welfare and advancement of the Mudiraj community. He also assured the community that he would make efforts to address its concerns.
The meeting at the Secretariat focused on the Jayanti proposal, the BC-A category demand and other issues raised by Mudiraj community representatives. The government’s consideration of the requests remained the next step.
