Hyderabad: Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari congratulated shooter Dhanush Srikanth and badminton player Gayatri Gopichand on receiving the prestigious Arjuna Awards. The minister expressed happiness over the recognition received by the two Telangana sportspersons. He said their achievements had brought pride to the state.
Srihari said athletes from Telangana had demonstrated their talent and excellence at national and international competitions. He said the Telangana Arjuna Awards winners had earned the recognition through dedication, determination and sporting excellence.

Congratulating Dhanush Srikanth and Gayatri Gopichand, Srihari said their achievements would inspire young people to pursue excellence in sports. The minister also reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting emerging sportspersons.
He said the government would provide comprehensive support and encouragement to young athletes. Meanwhile, authorities had accorded priority to improving sports infrastructure across Telangana.
The government had also focused on developing playing fields and training facilities. These measures aimed to help more Telangana athletes compete successfully at national and international levels.
Srihari said the recognition received by the Telangana Arjuna Awards winners demonstrated the potential of sportspersons from the state. The government remained committed to developing Telangana into one of India’s leading states in sports, he added.
According to the minister, continued investment in infrastructure and training would provide young athletes with better opportunities to develop their skills. He said the accomplishments of Telangana sportspersons would also encourage the state’s youth and inspire the next generation of athletes.
