Telangana government pledges Mudiraju community welfare, says Vakiti Srihari

Hyderabad: Animal Husbandry Minister Vakiti Srihari reaffirmed the Telangana government’s commitment to Mudiraju community welfare and social justice on Thursday. He said the government was prepared to examine the community’s demand for reclassification from BC-D to BC-A. Speaking at the 174th birth anniversary celebrations of Panduga Sayanna at Ravindra Bharathi, the Minister outlined the government’s approach to community development.

He said honouring historical personalities, protecting the dignity of marginalised communities and implementing social justice were central to the government’s policies. Srihari reiterated that the government remained committed to advancing the Mudiraju community in accordance with Panduga Sayanna’s ideals.

Mudiraju community welfare and BC-A classification demand

Addressing the community’s demands, Srihari said the government had the resolve to examine shifting the Mudiraju community from BC-D to BC-A. However, he stressed that any decision would require careful consideration of its implications for other communities.

He specifically referred to the fishermen community, which currently falls under the BC-A category. The Minister said the government would ensure that any proposed change did not adversely affect the fishermen community’s existing interests.

Therefore, he emphasised the need for a responsible approach while examining the Mudiraju community’s demand for reclassification. Srihari said meaningful social justice required identifying the specific challenges faced by different caste groups.

Moreover, he stressed the importance of providing equitable opportunities based on the social and economic circumstances of individual communities. He highlighted the state’s ongoing caste census, which he linked to the vision of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

The Minister said understanding caste-specific difficulties was necessary to ensure that government policies addressed the needs of different communities. He also referred to the government’s efforts to recognise the contributions of historical leaders through official commemorative programmes.

According to Srihari, the Congress government had been organising birth and death anniversary celebrations to highlight the contributions of prominent historical personalities. He alleged that the previous administration had neglected this practice.

Srihari said recognising historical figures and preserving the dignity of marginalised communities formed part of the government’s broader commitment to social justice. The Minister reiterated that Mudiraju community welfare remained an important government priority, alongside equitable opportunities for other communities.
