Bhatti calls for coordinated push to promote arts, tourism and temples

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka called for closer coordination among the Culture, Tourism and Endowments Departments to strengthen arts and culture promotion and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for artists.

He made the remarks while attending the Ardhanareeswaram National Dance Festival at Ravindra Bharathi as the chief guest.

Bhatti said the three departments should function in an integrated manner to preserve traditional art forms and expand opportunities for artists across Telangana.

He noted that temple premises historically served as important platforms for fine arts and cultural expression.

The Deputy Chief Minister said earlier rulers effectively used dance and art forms to convey devotional and social messages to the public.

Arts and culture promotion can boost tourism and livelihoods

Bhatti proposed introducing a Kerala-style model in Telangana by showcasing local art forms at major tourist destinations.

He said evening cultural performances at tourist sites would enrich visitor experiences while creating employment opportunities for artists.

The government is keen to promote traditional arts at both temples and tourism centres, he added.

Bhatti expressed confidence that coordinated planning by the concerned departments would produce significant results.

Meanwhile, Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao participated in the programme and felicitated artists along with the Deputy Chief Minister.

Ardhanareeswaram conveys message of equality

Referring to the festival theme, Bhatti said Ardhanareeswaram reflects the principle of equality between men and women.

He said the concept symbolises the harmonious balance of masculine and feminine energies.

According to him, the idea conveys that creation flourishes when both complement each other with mutual respect.

The Deputy Chief Minister also welcomed artists who travelled from different parts of the country to participate in the festival.

He said Telangana is known for its hospitality and hoped the visiting artists would carry fond memories of their experience.

Bhatti and Jupally Krishna Rao felicitated several performers during the event.

Sangeet Natak Akademi Chairperson Alekhya Punjala and other dignitaries also attended the festival.
