Hyderabad: The Telangana government will launch the second phase of Indiramma houses from Adilabad on June 2. The programme will continue for poor families without homes.
Revenue, Housing and Information Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the government aimed to provide a permanent house to every eligible poor family in the state. He said a house symbolised dignity and a secure future for poor families.
The minister said the government was implementing the programme under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. He added that Telangana was offering Rs 5 lakh financial assistance with a 100 per cent subsidy for house construction. He said no other state had introduced a similar scheme.
Indiramma houses review held for Khammam and Warangal
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy reviewed revenue and housing issues on Friday at the Housing Corporation headquarters. Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, district collectors and officials from housing, revenue and forest departments attended the meeting for the combined Khammam and Warangal districts.
Khammam in-charge minister Vakiti Srihari attended the review. Ministers Danasari Anasuya Seethakka, Konda Surekha and Ponnam Prabhakar also participated. MPs Vamsi Krishna and P. Balaram Naik were present.
The minister said the government had sanctioned more than three lakh houses in the first phase. Officials grounded around 2.90 lakh houses. Nearly 50,000 families had already entered their new homes.
He said workers were constructing more than two lakh houses at different stages. He added that officials would complete the works within two months.
The government sanctioned 3,500 houses for every constituency. It also allotted additional houses to constituencies located in ITDA areas.
Indiramma houses process to continue in more phases
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the government would continue the programme through third and fourth phases until every eligible beneficiary received a house.
He said beneficiaries who earlier received up to Rs 20,000 under the old united Andhra Pradesh Indiramma housing scheme would also qualify for new Indiramma houses.
The minister directed officials to clear pending bills for houses built in pilot villages with an area exceeding 600 square feet.
He instructed forest officials and Singareni management not to stop poor families from constructing houses where they currently lived in huts.
The minister also asked collectors to allow soil transportation from tanks and ponds for house basements without hurdles.
Indiramma houses linked to land dispute surveys
The minister said Khammam and Warangal districts contained large stretches of forest land. He said several border disputes existed between revenue and forest departments.
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy directed both departments to conduct joint surveys and resolve disputes permanently. He also instructed officials to use recently procured rovers for surveys involving patta lands and forest boundaries.
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the government was holding meetings with public representatives to gather field-level feedback on welfare schemes and revenue issues.
He said the government would introduce changes in the second phase of Indiramma houses based on suggestions from public representatives.
The minister directed district collectors to complete beneficiary selection for all pending 2BHK houses by the end of this month. He stressed that officials should maintain transparency and ensure benefits reached only eligible poor families.
He also ordered officials to complete electricity, drinking water and drainage works in double-bedroom housing colonies without delay.
Housing Secretary V.P. Gautham and Stamps and Registrations IG Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanth also attended the meeting.
