Hyderabad: Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao on Friday reviewed proposed Hyderabad high-speed rail corridor projects with senior officials at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat.
He directed officials to prepare proposals in coordination with the Union Railway Ministry and the Telangana government. Additionally, he instructed all departments to work together on project reports and implementation plans.
The Chief Secretary asked officials to take necessary steps on land acquisition, connectivity, infrastructure development and other project-related issues.
Ramakrishna Rao said the proposed high-speed rail corridors linking Hyderabad with Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru could help Telangana emerge as a major economic growth corridor under the Telangana Rising 2047 vision.
He said the project would strengthen India’s fast transport network and support future public transport needs. Moreover, he said the corridors would benefit industrial, IT and tourism sectors.
Hyderabad high-speed rail corridors need land acquisition
Railway officials told the meeting that they had already prepared the Detailed Project Report for the Hyderabad-Pune-Mumbai high-speed rail corridor.
Officials said they had prepared proposals for the nearly 671-kilometre corridor. They added that Telangana would require around 93 kilometres of land acquisition for the project.
They also said authorities would need around 123 kilometres of land acquisition for the Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Hyderabad-Chennai corridors.
Furthermore, officials said authorities would acquire land in Kokapet and Shamshabad for railway depots linked to the project.
Hyderabad high-speed rail project to improve connectivity
The Chief Secretary directed Roads and Buildings Department officials, HMDA authorities and GMR Airport officials to coordinate with Union Railway Ministry project teams for smooth implementation of the high-speed rail project.
He said coordinated efforts among departments were necessary for successful project execution and infrastructure development.
Special Chief Secretaries Vikas Raj and Naveen Mittal attended the meeting. Besides them, HMDA Metropolitan Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, Union Railway Ministry officials and GMR Airport representatives were present.
