Telangana conducts disaster mock exercise review at TGICCC

Hyderabad: Telangana officials on Friday conducted a Telangana disaster mock exercise at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre to review preparedness for floods, forest fires and industrial accidents.

The Table Top Exercise formed part of the state-level mock exercise programme on disaster management.

Director General of Fire Services, Emergency and Disaster Response Vikram Singh Mann and Revenue Secretary Hari Chandana Dasari supervised the exercise. Major General Sudhir Bahl, Lead Consultant of the National Disaster Management Authority, explained the procedures for conducting the exercise.

The programme focused on operationalising the Incident Response System and testing inter-departmental coordination during emergencies.

Officials also reviewed emergency response preparedness and assessed the effectiveness of Emergency Support Functions at state and district levels.

The exercise highlighted coordination among the State Disaster Management Authority, TGICCC, SDRF, district administration, police, fire services and other line departments.

Officials discussed disaster scenarios, response strategies, communication protocols and resource mobilisation mechanisms. Consequently, departments reviewed measures for timely and effective emergency response during real-time incidents.

Heads of departments and representatives from 47 Central and state government agencies participated in the exercise.

The Table Top Exercise mainly focused on strengthening preparedness, coordination and response systems for floods, forest fires and industrial accidents.

Telangana disaster mock exercise to continue with field drills

As part of the programme, authorities will conduct full-scale mock drills on May 18, 2026, in several districts across Telangana.

Officials identified multiple locations for the upcoming drills to test field-level disaster response systems.

The department coordinated the exercise under the guidance of senior officials and disaster management authorities.

Meanwhile, officials felicitated a few Yuva Aapda Mitra volunteers during the programme.
