CM Revanth Reddy asks unions to prepare roadmap for TGSRTC reforms

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy asked RTC labour unions to prepare a roadmap for TGSRTC reforms aimed at improving passenger services and strengthening the corporation. He assured union leaders that the government would address key employee issues, including the pending PRC matter.

The Chief Minister held discussions with RTC labour union representatives at his Jubilee Hills residence. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, MPs, public representatives and senior officials attended the meeting.

During the discussions, Revanth Reddy asked union leaders to deliberate on recognition union elections and the proposed merger issue. He said the unions should place their proposals before the government after reaching a common understanding.

However, the Chief Minister said the government would separately discuss issues where unions held different opinions. He added that the government would consider proposals supported by all unions.

TGSRTC reforms include EV buses and new terminals

Union leaders requested wages for the three-day RTC strike period and withdrawal of cases filed during the agitation. In response, Revanth Reddy directed officials to take necessary action.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said the government remained committed to resolving RTC issues and protecting workers’ welfare. He also asked employees to cooperate in strengthening the organisation.

According to Revanth Reddy, the government increased RTC bus strength, expanded recruitment and improved revenue generation. He credited workers for helping the corporation maintain its reputation.

The government allocated 100 acres at Gajularamaram for a bus terminal. In addition, plans are underway to build an international-standard bus terminal on 150 acres in Shamshabad.

The Chief Minister said the government planned to procure 1,000 electric buses and integrate them with Metro services. He added that RTC spent nearly Rs. 2,000 crore every year on diesel and needed to reduce operational expenses.

Further, Revanth Reddy said the government was working to clear pending dues and compassionate appointments. He assured workers that RTC would not reduce driver posts.

Finally, the Chief Minister urged workers and management to maintain coordination and avoid steps that could weaken the corporation. He said the government would continue protecting the rights of RTC employees.
