CNG prices increased fourth time since May 15, total hike reaches Rs 6

Hyderabad: CNG prices increased again across the country just a day after petrol and diesel price hikes, adding further burden on commuters and transport operators.

Authorities increased compressed natural gas prices in Delhi by Rs 2 per kg. This marked the fourth revision in rates since May 15.

Following the latest hike, CNG prices in the national capital reached Rs 83.09 per kg.

Companies earlier increased rates by Rs 2 on May 15, Rs 1 on May 18 and another Rs 1 on May 23.

With the latest revision, CNG prices increased by a total of Rs 6 per kg within 11 days.

CNG prices likely to raise transport costs

The repeated increase in CNG prices is expected to raise operating expenses for auto-rickshaw and cab drivers using CNG vehicles.

Transport operators are likely to increase auto and cab fares following the latest revision.

The hikes could directly affect daily commuters, office employees and middle-class families who rely on public transport services.

Higher transportation expenses may also increase the prices of essential commodities in markets.

Meanwhile, rising petrol and diesel prices have already increased the financial burden on vehicle owners across the country.

Consumers are now facing pressure from rising fuel costs across multiple sectors, including personal transport and public travel services.
