Ponguleti challenges KTR over Indiramma housing scheme

Hyderabad: Telangana Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy launched a sharp attack on BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao over the Indiramma housing scheme and challenged him on housing construction in the state.

In a post on X, Ponguleti alleged that KTR did not even deserve to utter the name “Indiramma”. He accused the former BRS government of phone tapping, including surveillance of family members.

The minister said the Congress government had already taken up construction of 4.5 lakh houses within the first two-and-a-half years of coming to power.

According to Ponguleti, people in villages who received houses under the Indiramma housing scheme understood the difference between Congress governance and the previous administration.

He also criticised KTR for allegedly remaining disconnected from ground realities while staying in farmhouses.

Indiramma housing scheme triggers political challenge

Ponguleti said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy would launch construction of another 2.5 lakh Indiramma houses on June 1.

He also stated that the Cabinet recently approved construction of one lakh houses in three corporations within Hyderabad limits.

The minister claimed that people already rejected the BRS in Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. He also referred to defeats faced by the party in Cantonment and Jubilee Hills.

Ponguleti alleged that people were prepared to give political retirement to the BRS in the next elections.

He further challenged KTR over housing schemes implemented by both governments.

The minister said the Congress party would not seek votes in villages without Indiramma houses. He also stated that the BRS should avoid seeking votes in villages without double-bedroom houses.

Ponguleti asked KTR whether he was ready to accept the challenge.
