Hyderabad: Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha said the government will develop the Nizamabad referral hospital into a major referral centre. The hospital will offer super-speciality services and advanced diagnostic facilities.
The Minister said the Nizamabad Government General Hospital will introduce cardiology, neurology, nephrology, urology and other super-speciality services in phases. Moreover, the government is procuring an advanced MRI machine. MRI services will begin shortly.
The Minister reviewed healthcare services in Nizamabad district during a meeting with local MLAs at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat. He assessed the functioning of the Government Medical College, Government General Hospital, Area Hospitals, Community Health Centres, Primary Health Centres and sub-centres.
He reviewed medical services, infrastructure, staffing and ongoing development works. In addition, he directed officials to act promptly on suggestions made by public representatives. He also asked them to address patients’ needs without delay.
Nizamabad referral hospital to expand specialist care
MLAs said public confidence in government hospitals has increased significantly. Meanwhile, Banswada MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said legislators receive several calls every day seeking beds at NIMS, Gandhi Hospital, Osmania Hospital and the Nizamabad Government General Hospital.
He said strengthening district hospitals would reduce the patient burden on Hyderabad’s major government hospitals.
The MLAs also highlighted healthcare needs in their constituencies. The Minister agreed to sanction a Primary Health Centre at Ankapur. Further, he said the government would examine proposals to upgrade the Nandipet PHC into a Community Health Centre. It will also study the proposal to establish a trauma care centre at Indalwai.
Damodar Raja Narasimha said the government has already strengthened healthcare services in Nizamabad district. Recently, it appointed 18 gynaecologists, 22 anaesthesia specialists and 22 paediatric specialists to Community Health Centres and Area Hospitals. Besides this, it posted around 330 nursing officers.
He said the government would complete specialist appointments in General Medicine, General Surgery and Radiology by the end of the month. He added that the district would not face a shortage of doctors or healthcare staff.
The Minister said the government is strengthening human resources, infrastructure, advanced medical equipment, medicines and diagnostic services in government hospitals. He urged public representatives to support the development of government hospitals and improve healthcare services.
