Hyderabad: Director General of Police C.V. Anand handed over a ₹1 crore constable insurance cheque to the family of Rachakonda Armed Reserve Constable V. Charan Kumar, who died after sustaining injuries in a road accident while returning from duty.
Charan Kumar, a 2018-batch constable of the Malkajgiri Commissionerate, was serving on deputation with the Eagle Force. Meanwhile, he met with a road accident near Deovarkar village in Maharashtra while returning after completing duty during the night of September 22–23, 2025.
He suffered severe head injuries and injuries to his right leg. Doctors first treated him locally. Afterwards, they shifted him to Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad, where he underwent plastic surgery and further treatment.
Constable insurance cheque processed through SBI
The hospital discharged Charan Kumar on October 28, 2025. However, he collapsed shortly after reaching home and lost consciousness. His family rushed him back to Yashoda Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
To provide financial assistance to the bereaved family, Eagle Force Director Sandeep Shandilya, SP Raghuveer and Additional SP Krishnamurthy coordinated with the State Bank of India. They completed the insurance claim process.
Subsequently, DGP C.V. Anand presented the constable insurance cheque worth ₹1 crore to the family. He also conveyed his heartfelt condolences and assured them of the police department’s continued support.
