Hyderabad: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar issued road accident prevention measures to curb rising fatalities across the state’s highways.
He directed Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj to implement steps that reduce accidents under the road safety programme. The minister stressed the need to cut deaths by focusing on accident-prone areas.
The road accident measures include identifying high-risk locations and launching awareness initiatives. He noted that accidents on national and state highways have increased at an alarming rate.
Road accident prevention measures focus on awareness at hotspots
The minister instructed officials to display accident-damaged vehicles at designated platforms near accident-prone areas. He said these displays must include clear warning indicators for drivers and passengers.
Such steps will act as cautionary signals at accident spots. They will also raise awareness about road safety among commuters. As a result, officials expect a reduction in fatal accidents.
He further directed authorities to coordinate with the police department for effective implementation. Officials must set up these displays across high-risk locations throughout the state.
The minister said the road accident measures aim to protect valuable lives. He urged departments to act swiftly and ensure strict execution of the plan.
