Hyderabad: Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy held discussions with NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav on major Telangana highway projects during a meeting in Hyderabad.
The Minister reviewed the progress of the Regional Ring Road project and the proposed expansion of the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway (NH-65).
Komatireddy urged the NHAI to begin the eight-lane expansion works on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway at the earliest.
He said frequent accidents on the highway had earned it the reputation of a “death road”.

Meanwhile, the Minister also discussed the proposed 7.1-km double-decker elevated corridor between LB Nagar and Hayathnagar on NH-65.
He said the State government under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had already submitted the Detailed Project Report to the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
During the meeting, the NHAI Chairman informed the Minister that authorities had completed the tender process for the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway expansion works.
He also said officials were making arrangements to begin Regional Ring Road construction works soon.
Komatireddy brought several ongoing and proposed NHAI projects in Telangana to the Chairman’s attention.
The Minister urged the NHAI to speed up projects that would play a major role in Telangana’s development.
Roads and Buildings Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Special Secretary Pravinya and NHAI Regional Officer Shiva Shankar attended the meeting.
R&B Chief Engineers Dharma Reddy and Rajeswar Reddy were also present.
