Hyderabad: The Telangana government declared a Ganesh immersion holiday on September 25 for government offices, schools and colleges in Hyderabad and surrounding areas.
The holiday will apply to the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. It will also cover adjoining areas in Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts.
The government announced the holiday for the Ganesh idol immersion procession scheduled for Friday. Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju issued the notification on Wednesday through G.O.Rt.No.1396.
Ganesh immersion holiday applies to government institutions
The order covered government offices, schools and colleges in the notified areas. The government issued the notification by partially modifying an earlier order dated December 6, 2025. Consequently, the government declared November 14, 2026, a working day for the affected institutions. The date falls on the second Saturday of November.
Government offices, schools and colleges covered by the Ganesh holiday will function on that day. The government also directed authorities to publish the notification in the extraordinary Telangana Gazette.
