Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered a disproportionate assets case against Keesara Police Inspector Arkapally Anjaneyulu after identifying assets estimated at Rs 2.28 crore.
The officer served at Keesara Police Station under the Medchal-Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate. The ACB alleged that he had accumulated wealth beyond his known sources of income.
ACB City Range-1 officials conducted searches on October 17 at his residence, office and four other locations. These premises were linked to his relatives, associates and suspected benamidars. During the searches, investigators recovered documents relating to several residential and agricultural properties.
The records included two plots measuring 150 square yards each and an old house at Lingojiguda in Saroornagar. Officials valued these properties at Rs 30 lakh. Additionally, they identified an old house on a 240-square-yard plot at CR Enclave in Mansoorabad, valued at Rs 40 lakh.
The searches also revealed an under-construction house on 180 square yards at Perur village, valued at Rs 50 lakh. Investigators identified two acres of agricultural land at Haliya in the Miryalaguda area, valued at approximately Rs 80 lakh.
Disproportionate assets case: Cash, gold and vehicle identified
Apart from the immovable properties, ACB officials found Rs 7 lakh in cash and 60 tulas of gold ornaments. Officials estimated the value of the gold ornaments at approximately Rs 5 lakh. They also identified a Maruti Vitara Brezza car worth around Rs 6.5 lakh. Household articles and electronic gadgets accounted for another Rs 10 lakh.
Meanwhile, investigators suspected that Anjaneyulu had acquired additional agricultural land in the Haliya-Miryalaguda area. Officials believed the market value of the identified properties exceeded their preliminary estimates. They continued verifying additional assets linked to the officer.
The ACB registered the disproportionate assets case under Section 13(1)(b), read with Section 13(2), of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018. Anjaneyulu had previously faced arrest in an alleged bribery case involving a demand for Rs 8 lakh.
According to the ACB, he allegedly demanded the amount in exchange for an official favour on September 16, 2026. He reportedly accepted Rs 5 lakh through his subordinate, Sub-Inspector D. Gyanender Reddy.
Authorities arrested Anjaneyulu on September 17 and subsequently remanded him to judicial custody. He remained lodged at Chanchalguda Central Prison when the ACB initiated the latest proceedings.
The bureau stated that it would produce him before the court in the disproportionate assets case through a prisoner transit warrant. Investigators continued examining the identified properties and verifying whether the officer possessed further undisclosed assets.
