Hyderabad: Nalgonda District Collector Ila Tripathi on Thursday said every citizen has a responsibility to plant trees to protect the environment. She was speaking at a plantation drive held in various parts of Miryalaguda town as part of the Vanamahotsavam celebrations.
Tripathi was joined by local MLA Batta Laxma Reddy, MLC Shankar Naik, and SP Sharath Chandra Pawar. As part of the visit, they also laid the foundation stone for a new Animal Birth Control Centre in Vanthipuram village of Miryalaguda mandal.
Miryalaguda plantation drive aims to protect environment
The Collector later inaugurated a health check-up initiative for municipal workers. She emphasized that regular health screenings would help improve the wellbeing of sanitation staff.
In the Two Town area, she also inaugurated ten newly installed CCTV cameras. Speaking at the event, Tripathi said the government is introducing schemes based on people’s needs.
Foundation laid for animal birth control centre
She explained that the Animal Birth Control Centre is being established to control the growing population of monkeys and stray dogs in the region.
Tripathi directed officials to conduct regular health check-ups for municipal workers to improve their quality of life. She expressed confidence that CCTV monitoring would help prevent untoward incidents and reduce crime in the town.
Sub-Collector Narayana Amit, Municipal Commissioner Srinivas, DSP Rajasekhar Raju, CIs Soma Narasaiah and P.N.D. Prasad, along with Congress leaders, were also present.
