Hyderabad Police register six FIRs over Ganesh immersion incidents

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police registered six first information reports (FIRs) over incidents reported during Ganesh immersion celebrations. The cases involved alleged public nuisance and rash or negligent acts, according to a police statement.

Police said videos of the incidents circulated on social media platforms. Following investigations, officers traced, identified and apprehended the accused.

The police said they would file charge sheets under the applicable legal provisions. Meanwhile, authorities urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and maintain public order during processions and public gatherings.

Ganesh immersion incidents prompt social media warning

Police cautioned people against recording, forwarding or promoting videos and photographs depicting unlawful or dangerous acts on social media. Depending on the circumstances, such activities could invite legal action.

The department also advised citizens to follow instructions issued by police and other authorities during public celebrations. It urged people to avoid disorderly behaviour that could endanger themselves or others or disturb public peace.
