Hyderabad: Telangana Police deployed around 30,000 personnel for Hyderabad Ganesh immersion processions as the 10-day festival entered its final phase. Police assigned the personnel to security, crowd management and traffic regulation duties.
Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand reviewed the arrangements on Wednesday. He also visited the Khairatabad Ganesh idol and offered prayers. Anand wished for peace, prosperity and well-being for the people of Telangana. He appealed to devotees and organisers to conduct the immersion processions peacefully and safely.
The DGP also recalled his association with the Khairatabad Ganesh celebrations. His association dated back to his tenure as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone. He thanked the organising committee and various government departments for helping maintain peace during the festivities.
Hyderabad Ganesh immersion enters final phase
Immersion processions began at several locations as the festival approached its conclusion. Police expected larger crowds over the next two days. Commissioners of Police and Superintendents of Police personally monitored arrangements in Hyderabad and other districts.
Police also coordinated with the GHMC, Electricity, Irrigation and other departments to facilitate the processions. Authorities made arrangements at Hussainsagar and other immersion points. They also positioned cranes at required locations along Tank Bund.
Police introduced special measures along procession routes to prevent theft and harassment of women. They deployed SHE Teams and Task Force personnel for additional security. Meanwhile, Traffic and Law and Order wings coordinated crowd control and vehicular movement.
Anand reminded organisers and devotees about Supreme Court guidelines concerning DJs and crackers during processions. He said excessive noise could inconvenience the public, particularly children and senior citizens.
Several festival committees had voluntarily decided to avoid DJs and crackers. Anand welcomed their decision and urged other organisers to celebrate responsibly. He also appealed to devotees to maintain a peaceful atmosphere throughout the immersion processions.
