Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao blamed the Congress government for recurring Telangana power outages on Wednesday. He also demanded uninterrupted 24-hour electricity supply to farmers across the state.
Speaking to reporters at Telangana Bhavan, Rama Rao targeted the government over power supply problems. He said the situation supported warnings previously raised by the BRS. “Congress came and the power went,” Rama Rao said.
He contrasted the current power supply with the situation during the previous BRS government. Rama Rao claimed the state’s power sector had functioned without such disruptions during the BRS tenure.
KTR questions Telangana power outages
Rama Rao alleged that substations across Telangana could not maintain power supply for more than six hours a day. He also disputed the government’s explanation for the shortages.
“When questioned about these shortages, the government cites El Niño. These power cuts are not caused by climate phenomena, but by the Congress itself,” he claimed. The BRS leader also raised questions over coal availability for thermal power generation. He alleged that TSGENCO had inadequate coal reserves.
Rama Rao further claimed that 40 lakh tonnes of coal had gone missing from Singareni Collieries. He questioned the shutdown of thermal power units if adequate coal stocks were available. He also referred to the closure of hydel power plants because of low water levels.
Rama Rao demanded that the state government fulfil its commitment to farmers. He called for an uninterrupted 24-hour power supply across Telangana. He said the government should address the electricity shortages and ensure continuous agricultural power supply.
