Hyderabad: Future City Police arrested two men in Shabad on October 9 for allegedly transporting MDMA for illegal sale. Police seized 13.97 grams of the drug, valued at approximately Rs.2 lakh, and three mobile phones during the operation.
The Chevella Zone Special Operations Team (SOT), working with Shabad Police, conducted the operation near T-Time at Nagarkunta Crossroads. Acting on reliable information, officers apprehended the accused during a special operation.
Police identified the arrested men as Maram Vamshi Reddy, 23, and Beera Praveen Kumar, 28. Both reportedly reside in Indira Reddy Nagar Colony, Mirzaguda, in Shankarpally mandal of Rangareddy district.
Shabad MDMA drug case targets alleged supply to students
During preliminary questioning, the accused allegedly told investigators they had purchased around 14 grams of MDMA from a person named Stephen in Bengaluru. Police said the purchase involved Rs.42,000 at a rate of Rs.3,000 per gram.
Investigators alleged that the accused planned to sell the drugs to students and software employees in Mokila, Kokapet and Nanakramguda. According to police, the intended sales were aimed at generating illegal profits.
Officers seized 13.97 grams of MDMA, two Redmi mobile phones and one Kechadda keypad phone. The Clues Team assisted in documenting the seized property in the presence of witnesses.
Shabad Police Station SHO D.K. Laxmi Reddy said police registered a case under Crime No. 423/2026. The case invokes Section 8(c) read with Section 22(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Police are investigating Stephen’s alleged role as the supplier and working to trace him. The Future City Police Commissionerate said its investigation into the suspected drug supply network was continuing under Chevella Zone DCP Yogesh Gautam, IPS.
