Tolichowki Police arrest eight in rape-POCSO and trafficking case

Hyderabad: Tolichowki Police arrested eight accused in a rape-POCSO and alleged trafficking case on October 9, 2026. Police said they detected the case within 24 hours and produced all eight accused before the court.

According to the police press note, the case involved the alleged kidnapping and sexual exploitation of a minor girl. Investigators said the incident began on September 2, 2026, when the main accused, Shaik Atif, allegedly transported the girl in an auto from Tolichowki to Attapur.

Police alleged that Atif handed the girl over to two women identified as Afreen, also known as Sana, and Samreen Begum. The women allegedly lured the girl with promises of food and accommodation before handing her over to Sabiya Begum, described by investigators as the operator of a brothel near Pillar No. 200 in Attapur.

The press note alleged that Sabiya Begum paid Rs.30,000 to the persons who brought the girl to her. Police said the amount was allegedly shared among Atif, Sana and Samreen.

Tolichowki trafficking case leads to eight arrests

According to investigators, the minor was allegedly forced into prostitution and sexually exploited by multiple customers. The police press note also alleged that three other accused facilitated customers and arrangements connected with the operation.

Police said the girl escaped from the premises on October 5, 2026, and returned home. She subsequently informed her family about the alleged exploitation and approached Tolichowki Police, who registered a case and initiated an investigation.

On October 9, police arrested all eight accused: Shaik Atif, Sabiya Begum, Mohammed Hajimiya, Afreen alias Sana, Samreen Begum, Md. Nadeem, Md. Kaifuddin and Ali Bin Akram. Investigators seized six mobile phones and the auto bearing registration number TS 30 T 8350.

The case was registered under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (ITPA). Police said the alleged motive was unlawful financial gain through trafficking and sexual exploitation.

The case was detected by Tolichowki Police Station personnel under the guidance of ACP Syed Fiaz and the supervision of DCP J. Raghavendar Reddy. The press note credited SHO L. Ramesh Naik, Additional Inspector G. Balraj, Sub-Inspector S. Ravi Kumar and their team with the investigation.
