Hyderabad: A 55-year-old woman from Godavarikhani alleged that a man sexually assaulted her after misleading her about giving her a lift. Police registered a case after the woman and her family approached the One Town police station.
The incident occurred on the 28th of this month, when the woman travelled to the 5 Incline Crossroads bus stop. She was heading to her brother’s house in Chennur for the Rakhi festival.
According to the complaint, a man named Nadeem from Ashok Nagar approached her at the bus stop. He allegedly told her that he was going towards the RTC bus stand and offered to drop her there.
The woman accepted the lift and got onto Nadeem’s bike. However, he allegedly changed direction and took the vehicle towards bushes near the 2A bridge.
Police said the man allegedly sexually assaulted the woman at the location. The woman later managed to return home and informed her family about what had happened.
Her family then approached the One Town police station and lodged a complaint. Following the complaint, police registered a case and began investigating the alleged Godavarikhani sexual assault.
During the search of the reported crime scene, police found Nadeem’s cellphone. Investigators are examining the available evidence as part of the ongoing probe.

Police reportedly suspect that Nadeem may have been involved in similar incidents in the past. However, the investigation into the current complaint remains underway.
Meanwhile, police are preparing to invoke the Preventive Detention Act against the accused, according to the source. The move was linked to reports of his alleged involvement in similar incidents.
The woman’s family approached police after she disclosed the alleged assault following her return home. Officers subsequently began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The case remained under investigation as police examined the evidence recovered from the reported scene. Further action against the accused was being considered based on the investigation.
