Hyderabad: Rein Bazar Police invoked the PD Act against two rowdy sheeters allegedly involved in murder, extortion and other violent offences in Hyderabad.
Police initiated the action following orders issued by V. C. Sajjanar, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City.
The accused were identified as Omer Bin Hamza Al Jabri and Ali Bin Hamza Al Jabri. Police said the two repeatedly engaged in criminal activities that disturbed public peace and law and order in the city.
According to police, Omer Bin Hamza Al Jabri was involved in eight criminal cases while Ali Bin Hamza Al Jabri faced seven cases.
The cases included offences related to murder, attempt to murder, extortion and criminal intimidation. Police also accused them of threatening local residents and creating fear among the public.
Rein Bazar Police submitted proposals seeking action under the Preventive Detention Act because of the accused persons’ repeated involvement in serious offences.

Police said authorities approved the detention orders after reviewing the gravity of the offences and the criminal background of the accused.
The department stated that the detention orders aimed to prevent further activities that could threaten public order and public safety.
Hyderabad City Police warned habitual offenders, rowdy sheeters and anti-social elements against disturbing law and order in the city.
Police also said they would continue taking strict action against individuals involved in repeated criminal activities.
