Rowdy sheeter PD Act detention after crime spree in Cyberabad

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police detained a rowdy sheeter under the Preventive Detention Act after linking him to a series of violent crimes in Jagadgirigutta.

The accused, Thanugundla Bala Showreddy alias Badsha, 21, faced multiple charges, including murder and attempted murder. Police said he operated within the limits of Jagadgirigutta Police Station and intimidated residents by moving with associates, carrying knives, and provoking violent clashes over minor disputes.

Police records showed that between 2023 and 2025, Bala Showreddy took part in two attempted murders and one daylight killing. Despite repeated arrests, he resumed criminal activities after securing bail.

The most serious incident occurred on November 5, 2025. On that day, he and his associates attacked Roshan Kumar Singh at a busy bus stop in Jagadgirigutta. They stabbed the victim in public, and he later died from his injuries. The attack triggered panic among local residents.

Rowdy sheeter PD Act detention aims to restore order

Officials said authorities invoked the Preventive Detention Act to maintain public order and prevent further offences. They added that the move aims to protect residents who had been living in fear due to his actions.

Police stated that the detention would help curb repeat offences and improve safety in the area.
