CM Revanth Reddy invites Hyundai to expand engineering operations in Telangana

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy invited Hyundai to explore car manufacturing opportunities in Telangana. He also assured the company of government support for its proposed projects. According to the Chief Minister, Hyderabad’s central location, transport links and industrial infrastructure offered advantages for investors.

A delegation from Hyundai Motor India Engineering (HMIE), led by Managing Director Changyeon Cho, met the Chief Minister at the MCR HRD Bodhi Pavilion. During the meeting, Revanth Reddy described Hyderabad as cosmopolitan, safe and liveable. He also placed the city among India’s six major metropolitan centres.

“We are centrally located in the country, and Hyderabad is known for being cosmopolitan, safe and one of the most liveable among India’s six metropolitan cities,” he said.

Hyundai engineering facility carries ₹8,528 crore investment plan

Revanth Reddy assured the delegation that the state government would support and expedite the proposed Integrated Global Research and Development facility at the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) in Zaheerabad. The Hyundai engineering facility involves a proposed investment of ₹8,528 crore. In addition, the project is expected to generate 4,276 jobs.

Hyundai plans to develop the facility in phases across 678 acres. During the meeting, the delegation briefed the Chief Minister on the project’s progress. It also indicated that the company could hold the groundbreaking ceremony in the coming months.

The proposal followed investment discussions between Telangana officials and Hyundai representatives at the World Economic Forum meetings in 2024. Subsequently, in June 2025, the Cabinet’s Industrial and Investment Promotion Subcommittee approved the proposed R&D centre.

Hyundai engineering facility to expand vehicle testing and development

HMIE operates a centre in Hyderabad’s HITEC City for advanced vehicle engineering research and development. Meanwhile, the proposed Zaheerabad facility and mega test centre are expected to expand Hyundai’s work in vehicle testing, performance validation and engineering development.

Revanth Reddy also highlighted Telangana’s potential to attract automobile manufacturing investments. He pointed to dedicated mobility clusters and established road, air and rail links. Furthermore, he said the government planned to strengthen high-speed transport connections to ports.

The Chief Minister outlined the state’s regional development approach, including the Peri-Urban Region (PURE) planning model. This framework focuses on manufacturing and related activities. He also presented the government’s vision for Bharat Future City, a proposed satellite city with world-class facilities.

In addition, Revanth Reddy invited Hyundai representatives to attend the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026. The invitation was part of the state’s efforts to attract industrial investment.

Changyeon Cho said HMIE would continue its partnership in Telangana’s development. K. Ramakrishna Rao, Advisor and Ex-Officio Special Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, attended the meeting along with Sangareddy Collector Prateek Jain and other senior officials.
