Telangana BJP chief urges Mahila Morcha to promote women’s welfare schemes

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao urged Mahila Morcha workers to take central government women’s welfare schemes to every household. He made the appeal at the BJP Mahila Morcha state executive meeting in Hyderabad on Friday. On the occasion, he said the Narendra Modi-led NDA government had empowered crores of women through various welfare programmes.

Rao highlighted the PM Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana and PM Mudra Yojana. He also cited the Lakhpati Didi initiative. According to him, these programmes had strengthened women’s financial independence and self-respect. Therefore, he asked party workers to raise awareness and help eligible beneficiaries access these schemes.

Women’s welfare schemes feature in BJP’s Telangana outreach

Rao criticised the Congress, BRS and INDIA bloc parties over their positions on the Women’s Reservation Bill. The legislation provides for 33 per cent reservation for women in legislative bodies. He accused opposition parties of obstructing women’s empowerment. Meanwhile, he pointed to central programmes offering free LPG connections, banking access and financial assistance to women farmers. He also highlighted livelihood opportunities through self-help groups.

Turning to Telangana, Rao alleged that crimes against women had increased under the Congress government. He demanded accountability from the state administration. In addition, he urged Mahila Morcha workers to speak out against atrocities against women. At the same time, he called on them to spread awareness of central welfare schemes at the grassroots level.

BJP Mahila Morcha national president and MP Roop Kumari Choudhary also addressed the meeting. She said the Modi government had worked to improve women’s living standards. In this regard, she cited housing, sanitation, drinking water and financial inclusion initiatives.

Choudhary also highlighted women’s contributions to business, science, defence and space research. Furthermore, she referred to the Lakhpati Didi and Drone Didi initiatives. She said these programmes supported efforts to expand women’s economic opportunities.

She accused opposition leaders of adopting double standards on women’s issues. However, she asserted that the BJP remained committed to securing women’s place in politics and public life. Choudhary also expressed confidence in the party’s growth in Telangana. She said Mahila Morcha workers would play a key role in strengthening the BJP across the state.
