Hyderabad: Tolichowki police on Wednesday cracked a major theft case involving ₹30 lakh worth of stolen gold jewellery and arrested a 36-year-old domestic worker in connection with the crime.
The accused, identified as Shabiya Begum, allegedly stole around 300 grams (30 tolas) of gold ornaments from the residence of Mir Shafi Ali Khan on August 20, 2025. The stolen items included gold chains, bangles, ear studs, diamond and pearl tops, and several gold rings.
During investigation, police recovered the stolen property from Om Jewellers and Muthoot Finance Ltd., where the accused had reportedly pawned the ornaments. Authorities seized the items and confirmed their link to the theft.
Investigation led by Tolichowki crime team
The breakthrough came under the supervision of ACP Syed Fiyaz of the Tolichowki Division and guidance of G. Chandramohan, DCP of South West Zone. SHO L. Ramesh Naik, Additional Inspector G. Balraj, and SIP G. Raghavendra formed the core investigation team, along with the local crime unit.
Police officials stated that the accused had used her access as a domestic help to identify and steal the valuables. The case has now been closed following recovery and arrest.
