Revanth challenges Harish Rao over Future City criticism

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy hit back at BRS leader T. Harish Rao over his Future City criticism, asserting that the Bharat Future City project would move ahead despite opposition and legal challenges.

Addressing a gathering in Gurramguda during the launch of Vana Mahotsavam 2026 on Thursday, Revanth Reddy defended the government’s flagship urban development initiative and accused the opposition of attempting to obstruct it.

The Chief Minister said the state government was developing a 15,000-acre forest within Bharat Future City and targeting 60 percent green cover as part of the project.

Future City criticism draws sharp response from Revanth

Referring to Harish Rao’s repeated remarks that the project would be scrapped if the BRS returned to power, Revanth Reddy challenged the Siddipet MLA to first secure victory in his constituency in the next Assembly election.

The Chief Minister alleged that while the government was promoting green development, critics were opposing efforts to expand environmental protection measures.

Furthermore, he expressed displeasure over petitions filed before the National Green Tribunal against initiatives aimed at increasing green cover in the proposed city. Revanth Reddy said the government would continue developing Bharat Future City and attract global investment regardless of political criticism.

Future City criticism linked to development and encroachment issues

The Chief Minister also addressed allegations surrounding HYDRAA and said the agency would act against encroachers rather than target poor residents.

Moreover, he expressed concern over alleged attempts to encroach upon land within the Gurramguda Eco Park. He also claimed that encroachers had targeted temple lands in parts of Vanasthalipuram.

Revanth Reddy further alleged that the previous BRS government neglected the development of LB Nagar. Therefore, he pledged to address pending civic and infrastructure issues in the constituency.

He also assured residents that the state government would continue supporting the development needs of Rangareddy district.
