Hyderabad: Santoshnagar Traffic Police conducted a special school transport safety drive at IS Sadan Junction on Thursday to prevent drunk driving among school bus and auto drivers and ensure the safety of students during their daily commute.
The enforcement drive took place under the jurisdiction of Santoshnagar Traffic Police Station following directions from senior police officials. Authorities focused on checking school transport vehicles and verifying that drivers were not operating under the influence of alcohol.
Officials said the primary objective of the school transport safety drive was to protect students and reduce risks associated with impaired driving.
School transport safety drive focuses on student protection
During the operation, traffic police personnel inspected school buses and autos operating in the area.
In addition, officers counselled drivers on traffic regulations, road safety measures and responsible driving practices. They also warned drivers against consuming alcohol before operating school transport vehicles.
Police stressed that student safety remains the top priority and urged drivers to follow all traffic rules while transporting children.
Officials announced that the school transport safety drive would continue on a regular basis in the coming months.
Furthermore, traffic police appealed to transport operators and the public to cooperate with enforcement measures aimed at improving road safety. Authorities believe regular inspections and awareness programmes will help ensure safer travel for schoolchildren.
Inspector Mohammad Asif of Santoshnagar Traffic Police said the department would continue conducting such special checks to strengthen safety standards in school transportation.
