Hyderabad: The RTC staff attack in Nalgonda prompted TGSRTC Managing Director Y Nagireddy to warn of strict action against those assaulting employees on duty.
He said the corporation would not tolerate attacks on staff who serve the public round the clock. Therefore, he cautioned that anyone targeting RTC personnel would face legal consequences.
The warning followed an incident involving RTC driver Thalla Ram Kumar in Nalgonda district. The driver stopped a Pallevelugu bus at a designated stop near Arjalabavi village under Nalgonda Rural police limits on Sunday morning. At that point, a man identified as Tupakula Venkatesham arrived on a bike and confronted the driver.

The accused questioned why the bus did not stop midway. However, the driver clarified that buses halt only at designated stops. Despite this, Venkatesham abused the driver using offensive language.
He then entered the bus and dragged the driver from his seat. Subsequently, he assaulted him indiscriminately. As a result, Ram Kumar suffered injuries above his right eye and on his knee.
Following a complaint from the driver, Nalgonda Rural SI Saida Babu registered a case against the accused. Police initiated action under relevant sections for obstructing a public servant on duty.
Nagireddy reiterated that the corporation would stand by its staff. He said ensuring their safety remained a priority while warning of strict legal action in every RTC staff attack case.
