Hyderabad: Authorities issued a heatwave red alert across several districts and warned of severe heatwave conditions, dry weather and soaring temperatures across Telangana.
The weather department said temperatures would intensify between April 27 and 30. Northern and central districts may record maximum temperatures between 44°C and 46°C. As a result, officials placed these regions under a heatwave red alert due to extreme conditions.
At the same time, parts of southern and eastern Telangana may receive thunderstorms. Weather reports indicated chances of rain in Hyderabad on April 28 and 29. However, experts said the overall pattern would remain unstable over the next ten days.
Heatwave red alert signals extreme weather swings in Telangana
On one side, intense heat will persist across the state. On the other hand, sudden thunderstorms may bring short spells of rain. This contrast, officials said, could create discomfort for residents.
From May 1 to 3, heatwave conditions are expected to return in southern and eastern districts. Temperatures may range between 44°C and 45°C. Meanwhile, most parts of the state will continue to experience dry weather.
Between May 4 and 8, weather conditions may shift again. Several regions, including Hyderabad, may receive thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds. Although heatwave intensity may reduce, temperatures are likely to remain between 41°C and 43°C.
Officials advised people to remain cautious amid fluctuating conditions. They urged residents to avoid prolonged exposure to heat and to take shelter during sudden rains and strong winds.
