Hyderabad: The Telangana government has sanctioned ₹88.50 crore to speed up the construction of ‘Self-Respect’ buildings for 38 Backward Class (BC) community associations across the state. Minister for BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar handed over the Government Orders (GOs) to representatives of the associations at his quarters in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Speaking at the event, the Minister said the initiative is moving faster under the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka. He acknowledged earlier delays caused by administrative and technical hurdles.
The Minister said the land plots, developed under a ‘Ready to Construction’ framework with HMDA assistance, are now fully cleared for immediate work. He urged community leaders to start the works during the auspicious Karthika Masam and aim to finish them within one year.
Single-window permissions and monthly reviews
To streamline execution, HMDA and the Engineering department will facilitate permissions through a single-window system. Officials will also hold monthly progress reviews.
Ponnam Prabhakar firmly dismissed rumours that the government would reclaim the land. He assured the associations that the allotted plots remain protected assets of weaker sections, and he stressed that the associations must complete construction on time.
