Hyderabad: Rajendranagar Traffic Police conducted school transport safety inspections at private schools under the police station limits on Wednesday. The drive aimed to ensure the safety of students during their daily commute and improve traffic management around school campuses.
The inspections were carried out under the directions of Traffic-III DCP Rahul Hegde, IPS. Rajendranagar Traffic SHO Ch. Raju led the exercise with a team of Sub-Inspectors and Assistant Sub-Inspectors.
School transport safety drive checks buses and traffic arrangements
During the inspections, police verified the driving licences of school bus drivers. They also checked vehicle fitness certificates, registration certificates, insurance documents and pollution certificates.
Further, the team inspected parking facilities on school premises. Officers also examined whether boarding and deboarding points were located inside the campuses. They reviewed the functioning of road safety committees in schools.
Meanwhile, police monitored traffic management arrangements during school opening and closing hours. They assessed whether school staff were effectively regulating traffic to prevent congestion on nearby roads.
Police directed school managements to rectify any shortcomings in transport safety measures without delay. They also warned that strict action would follow any violation of transport safety norms.
