Hyderabad: Food Safety officials inspected the Sri Chaitanya central kitchen in Madhapur and recommended an improvement notice after identifying several hygiene and sanitation violations. The Cyberabad CMC Food Safety team carried out the inspection as part of its routine enforcement drive on Wednesday.
The central kitchen, operated by Sri Vasista Educational Trust, prepares food for Sri Chaitanya Group of Colleges. During the inspection, officials noted several good practices, including the use of hairnets by food handlers, proper storage of raw materials on pallets, availability of food testing reports, covered cooked food, labelled raw materials, and compliance with FIFO and FEFO inventory systems.

However, inspectors found damaged flooring and water stagnation near the kitchen entrance. They also noticed open windows, a heavy housefly infestation and the absence of fly traps.
Further, officials found open dustbins with food spillage and expired medical fitness certificates of food handlers. The establishment also failed to produce pest control and water testing records during the inspection.
Inspectors observed improper sorting of vegetables, stray dogs near the kitchen entrance and cat faecal matter in the store area. They also found the potato peeler machine in an unhygienic condition.
As a result, the Food Safety team recommended an improvement notice and directed the management to rectify the deficiencies. The kitchen received 72 out of 108 marks (67%) in the hygiene assessment.
