Hyderabad: A food safety raid in Kukatpally exposed serious violations at a food unit, prompting officials to seize materials and seal the premises.
Acting on inputs from SOT Police, the food safety team raided M/s Naseeb Birhsta at Kaithalapur in Kukatpally on April 22. Officials identified multiple violations during the inspection.
They found that the unit procured used cooking oil and reused it for bulk preparation of fried onions. Additionally, officials observed that the premises remained highly unhygienic.
Food safety raid in Kukatpally leads to seizure and destruction of stock
During the inspection, officials destroyed about 1,000 kg of raw onions and 70 kg of fried onions. Meanwhile, they seized nearly 480 kg of cooking oil after collecting samples for analysis.
Authorities said the violations posed risks to public health. Therefore, they sealed the premises to continue further investigation.
Officials stated that such enforcement drives will continue across the city. Further, they warned that strict action will follow against units violating food safety norms.
