Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched Telangana development projects worth more than Rs 9,377 crore and said Hyderabad held both national and global importance.
Addressing a programme at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre in Madhapur, Modi said the projects would strengthen manufacturing, infrastructure and employment generation in Telangana.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy attended the programme along with Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
The Prime Minister virtually inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several industrial, highway, railway and energy projects across the State.
Major projects included the Integrated Industrial Smart City at Zaheerabad being developed at a cost of Rs 2,360.54 crore.
Authorities also launched expansion works on the Gudeballur-Mahabubnagar stretch of National Highway 167 worth Rs 3,175 crore.
Telangana development projects target industrial growth
Meanwhile, Modi launched the PM MITRA Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal with an investment of Rs 1,695.54 crore.
Officials also inaugurated the Greenfield POL terminal at Malakapur near Hyderabad built at a cost of Rs 611 crore.
The Prime Minister launched the 118-km Kazipet-Vijayawada railway multi-tracking project worth Rs 1,243 crore.
Another project included the 21-km Kazipet Rail and Rail Bypass line costing Rs 292 crore.
Modi said the Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City would offer world-class infrastructure and modern industrial facilities.
He added that the PM MITRA textile park would create employment opportunities, especially for women.
The Prime Minister said Telangana’s National Highway network had doubled over the past 11 years.
He also said railway projects worth nearly Rs 50,000 crore were currently under implementation in the State.
According to Modi, Telangana now operates five Vande Bharat trains and six Amrit Bharat trains.
He further said the Malakapur Indian Oil terminal would strengthen Telangana’s energy supply network.
Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and other senior leaders also attended the programme.
