Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Monday said Warangal development projects worth nearly Rs.17,000 crore were transforming the city’s infrastructure and economy. He challenged Congress and BRS leaders to an open debate on the Centre’s contribution to Warangal.
While releasing a development report card in Warangal, Kishan Reddy said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given special priority to the city. He added that the BJP had never governed Telangana.
He said the Kazipet Railway coach factory had reached 90 per cent completion. He added that coach production would begin by January 2027. He also announced that work on a 30-acre railway terminal would begin next month. He noted that authorities had already inaugurated the modernised Warangal railway station.
Warangal development projects cover rail, roads and education
Kishan Reddy said the Centre had invested Rs.2,909 crore in the Kazipet-Balharshah third railway line. He added that work on the Kazipet-Vizianagaram third line was progressing. He also said the long-pending Warangal airport would become operational soon.
The minister said Warangal had secured one of the country’s seven Mega Textile Parks. He announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would lay the foundation stone for the Sammakka-Sarakka Tribal University later this year.
He also said the Centre had sanctioned 77 PM SHRI schools and an MSME Technology Centre for the district.
Kishan Reddy said workers had completed the Rs.108-crore Critical Care Block. They are constructing another facility worth Rs.130 crore. He also highlighted the Hyderabad-Warangal and Warangal-Karimnagar national highways. He said the Centre had taken up Rs.999 crore worth of cement roads and road works valued at Rs.1,250 crore.
He added that workers had completed 50 per cent of the Rs.500-crore Warangal Ring Road project. The Centre also sanctioned 50 new city buses. Under the Smart City Mission and Urban Challenge Fund, agencies completed 70 projects worth Rs.1,380 crore. They are executing another 40 projects worth Rs.414 crore.
