Hyderabad: An Adilabad lorry collision caused a massive traffic jam after a tomato truck and cement truck crashed on Kupti Bridge. The accident occurred in Neradigonda mandal, leaving both lorries overturned on the road.
Tomatoes from the affected vehicle spilled across the highway following the collision. Fortunately, there were no reports of fatalities, providing relief to passengers and local residents.
The crash brought traffic on the national highway to a complete standstill. Vehicles remained stranded for several kilometres on both sides, causing severe difficulties for commuters.
Police reached the accident site after receiving information about the incident. Officials began efforts to remove the overturned vehicles and restore traffic movement.
The accident also triggered criticism over the ongoing repair work at Kupti Bridge. Authorities currently allow traffic on only one of the two bridges, while repairs continue on the other structure.
According to motorists and local residents, the repair work has progressed slowly in recent days. They alleged that the situation has increased the risk of accidents because vehicles are being allowed to use the same bridge.
Adilabad lorry collision renews bridge repair concerns
Locals said similar accidents have raised concerns about safety at the bridge. They questioned the decision to continue allowing traffic on both sides of the same bridge during the repair period.
Meanwhile, motorists and residents urged authorities to respond to the recurring safety concerns. They demanded that officials complete the repair work on the other bridge as quickly as possible.
The latest Adilabad lorry collision has added to criticism of the authorities’ handling of the bridge repairs. Residents said delays could continue exposing passengers to serious risks.
Police continued working to clear the highway after the two lorries overturned. Traffic movement was expected to improve after officials removed the vehicles and cleared the scattered tomatoes.
