Hyderabad: Telangana Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar stressed employees responsibility and asked staff to ensure effective delivery of government schemes.
He attended birth anniversary celebrations of eminent leaders at the Secretariat on Tuesday. The SC/ST Employees’ Association organised the event.
Addressing the gathering, the minister said employees must discharge their duties with commitment. At the same time, he noted that they play a key role in implementing welfare programmes at the grassroots level.
Employees responsibility linked to Ambedkar ideals and welfare delivery
Referring to governance priorities, the minister said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was moving forward with the vision of B. R. Ambedkar. He added that education remained the most effective solution to societal challenges.
Meanwhile, he highlighted budget allocations for an Ambedkar Knowledge Centre near Lower Tank Bund. He also pointed to plans for a library and hostel at Nimboli Adda.
Highlighting April’s significance, he referred to the birth anniversaries of Babu Jagjivan Ram, B. R. Ambedkar, and Jyotirao Phule. According to him, their ideas promoted equality, justice, and education.
Around 320 SC/ST employees in the Secretariat carry the responsibility of implementing these ideals. Therefore, he urged them to act as representatives of the people rather than just employees.
Further, the minister said the government continues to focus on employee welfare through insurance, healthcare, job security, and pension measures. These initiatives, he noted, are improving their quality of life.
He also called for transparency and accountability in service delivery. Efficient functioning, he said, would strengthen public trust in governance.
During the event, union leaders requested installation of an Ambedkar statue in the Secretariat. In response, the minister assured that he would take up the matter with the Chief Minister.
