Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, in a post on X, highlighted the central government employees insurance scheme and said it strengthens welfare and financial security for staff.
He said the Centre launched the scheme to provide integrated banking and insurance services to employees across departments. According to him, the initiative reflects the government’s continued focus on employee welfare.
The scheme, introduced by the Department of Financial Services under the Finance Ministry, aims to improve access to financial services. Additionally, it covers employees working in civil services, security forces, and other central government roles.
Central government employees insurance scheme offers banking and risk coverage
Under the scheme, employees will receive zero-balance salary accounts and free digital transactions. Meanwhile, banks will offer loans at lower interest rates for housing, education, vehicles, and personal needs.
Officials said the scheme also provides insurance benefits, including personal accident cover up to ₹1.5 crore. In case of air accidents, coverage extends up to ₹2 crore.
The scheme includes term life insurance up to ₹20 lakh along with optional top-up facilities. In addition, employees will receive comprehensive health insurance for themselves and their families.
Authorities said the initiative also offers concessions on locker rentals and loan processing charges. Debit and credit card benefits will also improve under the scheme.
Kishan Reddy thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for launching the scheme. He urged employees to utilise the benefits.
