Ambedkar Knowledge Centre, Nimboli Adda hostel get ₹135 crore sanction

Hyderabad: The Telangana government sanctioned ₹135 crore for the construction of the Ambedkar Knowledge Centre near Lower Tank Bund and the redevelopment of the Nimboli Adda hostel in Kachiguda, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka announced on Monday.

Bhatti made the announcement after inspecting the proposed Ambedkar Knowledge Centre site and the Nimboli Adda hostel premises. He said the government had already granted both financial and administrative approvals for the projects.

The government allocated ₹110 crore for the Ambedkar Knowledge Centre and ₹25 crore for the Nimboli Adda hostel. Bhatti described the projects as institutions that would strengthen educational opportunities for students and job aspirants across Telangana.

Ambedkar Knowledge Centre to support job aspirants

The Deputy Chief Minister said the Ambedkar Knowledge Centre would feature a cellar, ground floor and ten additional floors. The complex will include study circles, a digital library and modern conference halls.

He said the government plans to establish Ambedkar Knowledge Centres in every Assembly constituency. The centres will provide free coaching facilities to students from poor, backward, marginalised and middle-class families.

According to Bhatti, students will no longer need to relocate to Hyderabad for competitive examination coaching. Instead, they will access lessons from leading faculty members through a digitally connected network.

He said the main centre in Hyderabad would deliver lectures online to all constituency-level centres. As a result, students across Telangana will receive coaching from their home districts.

Bhatti described the Ambedkar Knowledge Centre as a long-term educational platform aimed at improving opportunities for lakhs of students and unemployed youth.

Ambedkar Knowledge Centre project revives long-pending plan

The Deputy Chief Minister said the government had already released ₹5 crore to demolish the existing structure at the Tank Bund site.

He noted that the previous government laid the foundation stone for the project in 2016 but did not complete construction. However, he said the present government intends to finish the project at the earliest.

Bhatti also announced plans to modernise the historic Nimboli Adda hostel in Kachiguda. He said the hostel had supported generations of students from economically weaker sections and produced many senior officials.

The new hostel building will have three floors and offer improved facilities for students. The government approved the proposal during the budget session and sanctioned funds soon after receiving it.

Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav, MLAs Muta Gopal and Kaleru Venkatesh, MLC Addanki Dayakar, Telangana Christian Minority Finance Corporation Chairman Deepak John and Social Welfare Department officials attended the inspection.
