Hyderabad: Police solved the Lallaguda murder case after arresting two delivery workers accused of killing a Madhya Pradesh native during a robbery and stealing his mobile phone and cash.
Police identified the accused as Dhabee Vinod, 30, a grocery delivery worker from Tukaramgate, and Makkala Mohan, 19, a Swiggy delivery worker from Addagutta. Investigators recovered the stolen mobile phone and the electric bike allegedly used in the crime.
Lallaguda Police registered Crime No. 239/2026 after the murder of Jai Prakash Deshmukh, 38, a native of Balaghat district in Madhya Pradesh.
According to investigators, passersby spotted Deshmukh’s body in a pool of blood during the early hours of June 3. The body lay near the bypass road between the Tukaramgate railway bridge and Railway Nilayam in Secunderabad. Officers found two blood-stained stones near his head.
Investigators also recovered a small liquor bottle and a brown rexine belt bag from the scene. However, they found no identification documents with the victim.
Lallaguda murder case cracked through CCTV analysis
After registering the case, police formed four special teams under senior officers. The teams worked with Task Force personnel and launched an extensive investigation.
Police circulated lookout notices carrying the victim’s photograph to commissionerates, media organisations and social media platforms. Three days later, family members identified Deshmukh at the Gandhi Hospital mortuary after seeing the notices online.
Investigators later learned that Deshmukh had completed work at Kazipet and arrived in Secunderabad on June 2. He planned to travel to Miyapur to meet his brother. Relatives lost contact with him after his mobile phone switched off.
Police examined CCTV footage, analysed technical evidence and gathered intelligence from local informants. Those efforts helped officers identify and arrest the two suspects during the early hours of June 8.
Lallaguda murder case linked to robbery plan
During questioning, the accused allegedly confessed that they targeted Deshmukh near Monda Market in Secunderabad. They reportedly offered him a ride to Secunderabad Railway Station. Instead, they took him to an isolated area and tried to rob him.
Police said Deshmukh resisted when the accused tried to snatch his money and mobile phone. The two men then allegedly attacked him with large stones and inflicted fatal head injuries.
After the attack, the accused allegedly escaped with Rs.110 in cash and the victim’s mobile phone.
Investigators found that Vinod faced a criminal case registered at Malkajgiri Police Station in 2021. Mohan earlier worked with Vinod at the same grocery shop before joining a food delivery service.
Police said the duo rode around Secunderabad on the night of the crime looking for lone targets. They spotted Deshmukh and carried out their robbery plan.
Police produced the accused before a court and sought judicial custody.
Senior officers commended the Lallaguda Police Station staff and Task Force teams for solving the case quickly and recovering the stolen property.
